According to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Shanghai General Motors Company Limited will recall certain imported Cadillac SRX vehicles in mainland China due to fluid line problems.
The quality watchdog said in a statement that the recall involves 341 imported Cadillac SRX cars which were produced between December 4, 2009 and December 23, 2009.
According to the statement the recall is scheduled to start on October 25, 2010 and is part of a voluntary global recall program.
GM has said that it is possible that damage to the power steering line could cause power steering fluid to leak, and if the fluid sprays onto hot engine parts, an engine compartment fire could result.
Owners will be notified by mail and the inspection and any necessary repairs will be undertaken free of charge.
