Sinochem Group has received a letter from the board of the United Nations Global Compact which states that the company has been admitted as a formal member of the global organization.
According to the relevant rules of the Global Compact, Sinochem Group needs to abide by the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and submit a a social responsibility report or sustainable development report to the board each year after it gains membership.
The UN Global Compact was launched by the former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, and is one of the most influential international organizations and communications platforms in the social responsibility field. Up to June 2009, it had had more than 6,000 members from 130 countries around the world. To date, 201 companies from China have joined the organization.
Sinochem Group is one of the key state-owned enterprises which falls under the supervision of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. The company has established sound relations with stakeholders and has published CSR reports for consecutive three years since 2007.
