A new charity program has been formally initiated in Shanghai to help with the immunization of poor children in China.
Launched by Pampers, an affiliated brand of P&G, and called "One Help One Poor Children Vaccination Care Program", the program aims to raise funds to help with the immunization of children in the poor regions of Qinghai province in western China.
Through cooperation with the local government, the program will provide material and technology support to the basic vaccination service ranging from cold box technology for vaccine transportation, the training of vaccination doctors, vaccination education and the establishment of a modern child immunization and vaccination management mode to help make a difference among the poor children.
Debuted in Shanghai, the program will later tour to other cities in China. From September 1 to November 30, 2009, consumers can make donations to the program by purchasing P&G products with a UNICEF logo. During the period, vaccine experts will also be available to introduce vaccination to mothers in poor regions and encourage them to pay attention to the health of their children.
