Beijing Municipal Consumers' Association has exposed two companies, Beijing Tianlun Timeshare Holiday Development Company and Beijing Hongyuan Holiday Investment and Consulting Company, which are said to have received the most complaints for providing illegal timeshare holiday services.
BMCA says that some timeshare holiday service providers are still luring consumers via various means, and in the first quarter of this year alone, they have received over a dozen complaints from consumers involving a total of more than CNY140,000.
BMCA has revealed seven faults of timeshare holiday providers, reminding consumers to take a rational attitude towards the service and review it clearly before signing a contract with the service provider.
The seven offenses of operators of timeshare holiday services are said to be: holding promotions in the name of a famous hotel or a free travel program to lure consumers to attend; luring consumers to pay deposits or the full amount by making such claims as "this is the last chance to do it" and "the last day to enjoy the discount"; harming to consumers' interests with unfair contract clauses; cheating consumers by exaggerating the return from the investment; misleading consumers with the concept of timeshare holiday; asking consumers in a coercive manner to sign with them in; and requiring consumers to pay a high amount of deposit when signing the contract.
