Shenzhen has begun the construction of 10 build-operate-transfer waste water treatment facilities.
The news from Xinhua, which states that the ten waste water processing facilities are Fuyong Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Pearl River Area which has a daily capacity of 125,000 tons, Gongming Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Maozhou River Valley which features a daily capacity of 100,000 tons, Yanchuan Waste Water Treatment Plant with a daily capacity of 150,000 tons, Egongling Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Guanlan River Valley which has a daily capacity of 50,000, Pudixia Waste Water Treatment Plant with a daily capacity of 50,000, Shatian Waste Water Treatment Plant with a daily capacity of 30,000 tons, and Shangyang Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Pingshan River Valley that has a daily capacity of 180,000 tons.
The ten projects involve a total investment of CNY1.85 billion, and they will have a designed daily processing capacity of 890,000 tons. Each of them will be equipped with high-standard workshops and biological odor control facilities and they are expected to be formally put into operation in 2010.
Shenzhen Municipal government has issued a special rule to implement BOT operation on the ten plants.
According to Shenzhen's plans for waste water collection and treatment, between 2008 and 2010, the city will invest CNY13.8 billion on 58 key waste water control projects.
