According to Su Zhi, deputy director of the Food Safety and Sanitation Surveillance Bureau of the Ministry of Health, the ministry is working with the relevant departments to set up a blacklist system for non-food substances, particularly harmful and poisonous substances that are used to adulterate food.
Su said that the blacklist will be monitored and updated periodically. He also stated that that the MOH is normalizing the quality and safety standards of the dairy industry and expecting to reinforce food safety standards after the Food Safety Law is enacted.
With regard to unclear labels on food products, Liu Zhaobin from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China, said that AQSIQ is to release a food labels management rule, requiring food manufacturers to provide clear and detailed information on their products.
