Japanese automation group Omron has donated JPY10 million to Shanghai Jiuduansha Wetland National Nature Reserve to protect the wetland there.
Omron says that it has taken this opportunity to increase its employees' environmental awareness. It urges them to devote themselves to environmental protection and make contribution to China's development.
Jiuduansha Wetland is the only wetland at the mouth of the Yangtze River that has been preserved in its original state. The excellent natural conditions there nurture many different kinds of life form. It plays an important role in reducing red tides along the East Sea coast, defends against the ingress of salt water, purifies fresh water, and protects the coastline. It is an important biological screen for both Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta Region.
