The Chinese State Council AIDS Working Committee Office and the International Labor Organization have jointly initiated a program in Beijing aim at preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS among migrant workers.
Under the program, China and ILO will carry out an HIV/AIDS prevention and education campaign among about 200,000,000 Chinese migrant workers, calling on them to practice safer sexual behavior to avoid sexually-transmitted AIDS. In addition, they will spread messages across the country to reduce the social stigma on AIDS patients.
Statistics from China's Ministry of Health shows that there are currently about 700,000 HIV/AIDS patients in China and over half of them have contracted the disease through sex.
