The drinks company Pernod Ricard China will cooperate with Tandus, a floorcovering solutions provider, to recycle empty bottles into materials for carpet production.
Pernod Ricard China will supply the bottles and the Tandus Suzhou plant will process the crushed-down powders to replace the calcium carbonate traditionally used in carpet production.
This is, according to Pernod Ricard China, a win-win opportunity for the two companies.
Pernod Ricard China has been recycling empty bottles in bars and other places, including brands such as Chivas, Martell, Ballantine and Royal Salute. This greatly reduces the possibility of fake driks while the recycled bottles can be used by glassworks to avoid wasting resources. From 2007, Pernod Ricard China began to look for new environmental recycling solutions for bottles while working closely with industrial waste recycling companies to increase the recycling of empty bottles. The cooperation with Tandus offers a good recycling channel for Pernod Ricard's bottles, it also creates long-term social value for the company.
