Yum! Restaurants China, which manages KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, has formally released its food safety white book.
This is the first time that Yum! Restaurants China has expressed in the form of a white book about their food safety concept and policy to Chinese consumers after the Sudan Red accident three years ago. And the company is also one of the first food enterprise to release a food safety white book in the industry.
Pei Huaqing, senior vice president and chief logistics executive officer of Yum! Restaurants China, says that the company's suppliers in China have been capable enough to meet all standards and their innovation capacity has greatly advanced.
According to the white book, Yum! Brands Inc. has more than 500 ingredient suppliers in China and they provide over 90% of the ingredients needed by Yum! Restaurants China. Though the company still needs to import such food ingredients as sweet corn and cheese, it has a plan of soon making these materials supplied in China.
