The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced some special measures to ensure flight safety during the Beijing Olympic Games.
According to CAAC's new measures, passengers of domestic flights should not to take with them any liquid when boarding during the Olympic Games, and passengers of international and regional flights should follow the rules issued by CAAC on March 17, 2007 regarding the consumption of liquids. In addition, all air freight goods must be checked before they are loaded; passengers' luggage must not be loaded when the respective passengers has not checked-in; passengers' luggage must be unloaded when the passengers get off and all vehicles entering the airports must undergo strict checks.
On March 17, 2007, CAAC released a regulation which said that domestic passengers must not bring over one liter of liquid with them and international and regional passengers must not bring liquid more than 100 milliliters.
CAAC says that the work efficiency in checking passengers' boxes and bags should be increased during the Olympics and instrument checks and manual work may be adopted simultaneously when necessary.
A representative from CAAC says that CAAC hasn't fixed a date when the new measures will be implemented, but it will issue a notice about this in the coming days. At present, it is not known whether the liquids mentioned in the new regulation includes consigned luggage. Many airports in China are said to have already begun to implement CAAC's requirement by not allowing passengers to take any liquid with them.
