The Ministry of Health of China has made an outline for its disease control and prevention work in 2008 in which it says that it will work to increase public awareness of AIDS prevention, promote the use of condoms and make policies to prevent AIDS transmission among Chinese homosexuals during the year.
MH's Disease Control and Prevention Outline for 2008 contains 13 key points, which include further implementing the "Several Rules on the Construction of Disease Control and Prevention System" and improving the evaluation of the performance of disease control institutions. In addition, MH has plans for increasing disease control institutions' capability in fulfilling their roles, strengthening talent training and the construction of a coordination mechanism between the health organizations of the rural areas and urban areas.
Further enhancing the inspection and guidance on disease control departments and their working principles and continuing to improve the quality and management level of epidemic information is another area where MH will continue to push for modernization. Continuing to increase people's knowledge on AIDS prevention by conducting surveys on major local diseases and building local disease prevention and monitoring systems will help them meet this goal.
Developing community dental healthcare services and educating people about poor dental habits will occur along with building up rural drinking water safety evaluation and testing mechanisms and improving the supervision network on the quality of rural drinking water.
