Kunming's city government in southern China announced that the city plans to build 122 charging stations and 35,800 distributed charging piles for electric cars by 2020.
The city in Yunnan province is aiming to establish an electric vehicle charging service system that covers the entire city.
By the end of 2015, Kunming had built 306 charging piles and there are currently 278 charging piles undergoing construction.
Based on the planning of the city, Kunming will build 122 charging stations by 2020, including 36 exclusive fast charging stations for buses; eight exclusive charging stations for sanitation vehicles; 18 exclusive charging stations for logistics vehicles; 30 public charging stations; ten exclusive charging stations for tourist coaches; and 20 public charging stations along intercity expressway.
In addition, the city will also build 35,800 distributed charging piles to meet the demands of newly increased electric cars over the next five years.
