China National Offshore Oil Company, one of the largest state-owned oil giants in China, has announced a donation of CNY5 million to flood-ravaged Hainan Province, China's most southerly province.
According the local authorities, the strong rain-triggered flooding in Hainan had affected 1.65 million people in 16 cities and counties since September 30, 2010.
It is reported to the worst flooding to hit Hainan Province in nearly half a century.
CNOOC said in a statement that it was highly concerned about the flooding in Hainan, and it was very sympathetic for the loss to the province.
The company said the donation was aimed at helping flood relief.
