China Mengniu Dairy Company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the World Wildlife Fund to join the Climate Savers Program, becoming the first Chinese company to become a Climate Savers company.
During the next five years, Mengniu will team up with professional institutes in and outside China, such as the China National Institute of Standardization and Societe Generale de Surveillance S.A., to examine the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Chinese brand. In the meantime, a five-year emission reduction goal will be made and is reported to be the first emission reduction plan in the history of the country's dairy industry.
The Climate Savers Program is a collaboration between some of the world's leading corporations and the WWF to show leadership in voluntarily reducing emissions and mitigating the environmental impact associated with climate change.
