Chinese solar energy power company Yingli Green Energy Holding Company has announced that its in-house polysilicon manufacturing facility, Fine Silicon Company, has successfully started commercial operations.
The company states that using advanced monosilane-based polysilicon manufacturing technology, the polysilicon plant has a designed capacity of 3,000 metric tons per year and is capable of producing high quality solar-grade and electronic-grade polysilicon through energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes.
In the statement Miao Liansheng, the chairman and CEO of Yingli Green Energy commented that the startup of this plant is expected to further strengthen the company's leading position as one of the world's largest vertically integrated PV manufacturers. Miao added that Fine Silicon will also serve as a key platform to improve the company's raw material quality, which would be an additional guarantee for its high performance PV modules.
Yingli Green Energy, which holds the brand Yingli Solar, is one of the world's largest vertically integrated photovoltaic manufacturers.
Fine Silicon had previously announced it had commenced trial production and reached certain key technology and operating milestones in December 2009.
