Zijin Mining Group Company, the largest listed gold mining company in China, has stated that it has halted production at a plant in east China due to waste water leakage.
It is reported that in early July 2010, Fujian-based Zijin found that waste water containing acidic copper had seeped into the Ting River. However, it did not make any public announcement until July 12, 201.
A company spokesman said the company initially thought the accident was caused by heavy rain, but it later decided that it was due to management problems.
It is not currently known when production at the plant will be resumed.
