China's National Bureau of Corruption Prevention has launched a questionnaire on its official website surveying the use of public funds for foreign travel by Chinese officials.
The first of its kind in China, the questionnaire was drawn up the Division for the Prevention of Misuse of Government Funds for Travel under an inter-ministerial joint meeting office and it consists of seven questions, six of which are multi-choice questions.
The seven questions are said to be: Do you think that forbidding traveling abroad using public funds will affect the opening up of China? To your knowledge, have groups that have gone abroad on business investigations achieved anything? What about the achievements of groups going abroad for training? What's the real reason for traveling abroad with public money? What are the basic measures to prevent traveling abroad with public money? What do you think of the ongoing campaign to prevent travel abroad using public money? What are your suggestions for the campaign?
The survey will last for one month. Netizens can join it anonymously and the final results will be publicized in one month.
Regarding the questionnaire, some netizens say it's a worthwhile initiative by the NBCP, while others believe that the questions are too simplistic to address the issue of government-funded foreign travel.
