Ye Bingquan, the director of Instituto de Accao Social, has disclosed to Macau media that the the Macau SAR government will spend MOP10 million on an initiative that is designed to promote the employment of disabled people.
According to Ye, Macau will provide fund aid to five social service organizations to help them start up social enterprises to hire disabled people with each of the organizations receiving a maximum MOP2 billion.
In addition, Instituto de Accao Social will cooperate with the parties concerned to expand disabled people's artistic development, sex education, and community support to help disabled people to integrate better into society with various rehabilitation services.
Ye stated that Macau SAR government has launched various services in recent years to reduce the burden on the families of disabled people, eliminate social discrimination against them and assist them to gain employment. In particular, the government's Employer Accreditation Program is understood to have greatly eliminated employers' concerns about employing people with disabilities.
