According to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Toyota will recall some imported Highlander, Previa, and Lexus RX350/ES350 cars in China from December 30, 2009.
The recall involves a total of 43,023 cars, of which 6,848 are Highlander cars (made between May 31, 2007, and April 18, 2008), 3,133 are Previa cars (made between November 14, 2006 and April 8, 2008), 27,928 are Lexux ES350 cars (made between March 6, 2006 and April 8, 2008), and 5,113 are Lexus RX350 cars (made between January 16, 2006, and April 7, 2008).
It is learned that sulfur ingredients in the fuel may cause cracks in the internal wall of oil hoses in the engine, which could cause oil leaks and potential safety problems with continuous use.
Toyota will directly notify users and ask them to go to their nearest Toyota dealer for a free replacement of the affected part. In addition, consumers can call the hotlines of the company or log onto the website of AQSIQ for more information about the recall.
