Based on the measures it has already taken, the Chinese telecom service operator China Unicom is now collaborating with its partners to crack down the spreading of online pornographic information via mobile phones, with the aim of providing a green and healthy information service and promoting the healthy development of the telecom value-added services industry.
Together with the first batch of its partners which includes people.com.cn, xinhuanet.com, cctv.com, qianlong.com, sina.com, sohu.com, netease.com, and tencent.com, China Unicom has pledged to abide by the relevant state rules and regulations; to strictly carry out the principles of information security; and not to reproduce, copy, release or disseminate any vulgar content or information that does harm to teenagers or social ethics.
The parties have also promised to jointly advocate the building of a civilized network culture and accept the supervision of the public.
As part of the actions taken to fulfill these promises, from December 6, 2009, China Unicom will continue to provide information services offered by its partners that have already undergone strict inspection, suspend the information services of other companies that have not made this public commitment; and accept the public's supervision on the information services offered by it and its partners.
In addition, China Unicom has arranged a special telephone number (10010) and email box ([email protected]) for users to report the spread of any illegal information. The company says it will coordinate with the Chinese government to severely punish those who violate the relevant rules and will shut-down mobile phone service to these unqualified information service providers.
