Beijing Municipal Human Resource and Social Security Bureau has established a labor department to deal with migrant workers' issues.
This is the first time that Beijing has set up a special department to deal with these issues. Previously issues related to migrant workers, particularly delayed payment of their salaries, were often addressed by several different departments. The establishment of this department means that specific personnel will be responsible for helping solve migrant workers problems.
Relevant data shows that 80% of the industrial workers in China are migrant workers, so the establishment of the work department is thought to be very important to the solution of migrant worker problems.
It is learned Beijing Municipal Government has just carried out a reform on its organization structure which mainly focus on the organizing positions, government bodies and responsibilities of the relevant departments. As part of its restructuring and reorganization, BMHRSSB has set up 27 business divisions which cover pensions, medical insurance management, migrant workers' management, protection of worker's rights, and many other labor related aspects.
