Chen Zhili, the chairperson of the All-China Women's Federation, has called on Beijing to take a proactive role in making the retirement age for female cadres and intellectuals the same as their male counterparts.
Chen stated that a breakthrough needs to be made on retirement age to better realize equality between men and women. Chen also said that Beijing should take a lead on this and set up an example for the whole country.
Chen expressed her concern over women's participation in politics. She said that she hopes that Beijing will set an example for the whole country in this aspect by allowing women to participate in politics from the village level up.
Chen says that ACWF will further expand its work scope and study ways to network the various women's organizations across the country.
