According to reports in local media, more than ten instant bean vermicelli products from Baijia have been removed from the shelves of major supermarkets in Shijiazhuang, due to the similarity of its trademark with that of Baixiang, another Chinese instant food maker.
Zhang Lixu, a representative from Baixiang Food Group, said that in the second half of 2008, Henan Higher People's Court had announced that the vertical trademark of Baijia's instant bean vermicelli infringed the trademark rights of Baixiang and told Baijia to remove these products from sale within three months. However, they still receive reports from consumers who say that they bought Baijia products with the infringing trademark.
Zhang said the company has made a complaint to the Shijiazhuang Administration for Industry and Commerce and asked Baijia to stop the infringing activities.
Liu Qiang, a representative from Shijiazhuang Administration for Industry and Commerce, told local media that they have received the complaint and obtained samples from supermarkets. The matter is currently under investigation.
