The Macau Labor Affairs Bureau reports that Star World Hotel, an affiliate of the Galaxy Entertainment Group, will offer four unpaid-leave days a month from February 2, but the hotel had promised not to let go any of the employees involved in this program.
This would mean a reduction in salary of about 13.3% for the employees, according to the report.
Star World said in an announcement to MLAB that the global financial crisis had brought big challenges to Macau's gaming industry, including Star World, and they had made a series measures to control their operating costs, including reducing the number of non-Macau-native employees in top management positions, and it would carry out the voluntary unpaid-leave program in place of cutting jobs for employees in the four positions of on-site inspection director, dealer inspector, dealer, and cashier.
SWH pledged that it would not let go any employees involved in the program and would ensure a fair and just arrangement of overtime working by employees. It also said that it would not hire any new staff for the positions involved in the program, and would resume the normal salaries for the employees concerned as soon as possible.
