The UnionPay Chinese Red charity credit card has been unveiled in Beijing with Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Bank of Shanghai the first institutions to issue Chinese Red.

Chinese Red is originally a charitable activity implemented by the Chinese Red Cross Foundation. Gome Electrical Appliances Holdings Limited, Galanz Group, MSN, Framedia and Xinri Group, who also witnessed the birth of the credit card, all participated in the activity.

Chinese Red charity credit card is a brand new sustainable model for charities. As long as cardholders pay bills with the credit cards, China UnionPay will donate to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation's Chinese Red Initiative. The donations will focus on CRCF's Red Cross Angel Program, helping rural areas build Red Cross Boai clinics. China UnionPay also donates CNY1 million to the CRCF on behalf of other parties.

China UnionPay says it will work with banks and other companies that are involved in Chinese Red Initiative to build a cross-industry alliance for a better service to cardholders.
