Eight Chinese ministries and commissions, including Ministry of Environmental Protection, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Supervision, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, State Administration For Industry & Commerce, State Administration of Work Safety and State Electricity Regulatory Commission, will together launch a special environmental action this July.
Altogether 113 key cities are involved in this special action whose main focus will be placed on the pollution of drinking water sources. Post-supervision work will be carried out to ensure key indicators of drinking water sources quality to meet the standard.
Papermaking enterprises that can not steadily discharge waste water up to standards will be closed. Sewage treatment plants in towns whose operational capacity is lower than 60% of designed capacity will be forced to rectify in a given period. Other measures that will be part of this action will soon be unveiled.
