China Fibers Association has released "China Chemical Fiber Industry Development and Environmental Protection White Book" during the Fourteenth China International Chemical Fiber Conference, making it the first white book of this sort within the industry.
The white book has defined the energy saving and emissions reduction index until the year 2010. According to the index, in 2010, the energy consumption of the chemical fiber industry is 14.91 million tons of coal equivalent, and unit water consumption is 10.8 ton per ton, reduced by 43.5% compared to that of 2005.
Until 2010, solid waster utilization should be increased to 98%, and fiber emissions in waste water should be 9.4 ton per ton, decreased by 41.3% compared with 2005. COD discharge should be 68,700 ton, decreased by 42.3% compared with 2005.
Zheng Zhiyi, chairman of the association, said during the conference that China's chemical fiber industry has progressed in technology. Yet the pressure on environmental sustainability can not support the sustainable and quick development of the industry. Growth patterns in the industry must change to benefit development, which requires the energy saving and emission reduction.
China Fibers Association has collected 90 technologies and projects on energy saving and emissions reduction nationwide. This is a great opportunity for chemical fiber enterprises to improve product quality and enrich their product categories.
