China Construction Bank has released its Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2007, which is also the second annual CSR report of the company after the first report covering 2006.
The report elaborates on efforts CCB has made in environmental protection, improvement of people's livelihoods, optimization of product services, development of employees, promotion of the construction of an honest society and public welfare undertakings.
Compared with the report in 2006, report 2007 has more dates and cases, which greatly enriches information capacity. Five new aspects are worth noticing. First, the development strategy and goals are for the first time published to the public. In 2007, CCB has made "to be a world-class bank" its strategic vision, and also established its short-term goal of "setting up professional and differential marketing service system in 2008; completing the transform of business structure in 2010; approaching to a world-class bank in 2015; being a world-class bank in 2020". Second, stakeholders are for the first time introduced in the report. This indicates that CCB is making efforts to strengthen communication and coordination with governments, regulatory bodies, shareholders, clients, employees, communities, the public and media. Next, a third party is invited to verify the report. KPMG issued the verification book, approved the fairness of it and also brought forward suggestions for improvement, which showed that the CSR report of CCB is meeting international standards. Fourth, anti-corruption measures are also included in the report. Strict rules have been made in business management, human resource management, use of public property, projects tender, procurement of goods, organizational disciplines. Finally, campaigns of CCB volunteers are introduced for the first time, which reflects employees' awareness of corporate social responsibility.
In 2007, the total sum that CCB put into public welfare undertakings was CNY226 million.
