The Waste Management Department of Shanghai Municipal City Appearance Bureau announced that they had found new ways of classifying the city's waste.
This year, WMD will first initiate the new classification pattern of four-category waste in 1000 enclosed residential areas, the two-category waste in public places and three-category waste in 1000 government organizations, schools and undertakings.
The four-category waste refers to glass, harmful waste, recycled waste and other waste. Except for large waste which shall be placed to designated areas, each of the four kinds of waste will be put into four different bins marked in four different colors of yellow, orange, blue and green, which clearly tells people what kind of stuff to be put in each bin.
Two-category pattern refers to recycling waste and other waste. Three-category waste refers to recycling waste, harmful waste and other waste.
At present, each district of Shanghai is working on adjusting the bins and organizing vehicles to meet the new changes and demand.
