AMD has signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of integrated circuit industry with Shandong Provincial Government and the two parties will carry out a whole range of cooperation on technology exchange, talent training, industry application solution development, IC design and chip development.
According to the MOU, AMD will work with concerned enterprises and technological parks in Shandong to explore methods of building technology innovation centers, embedded software and solution design centers as well as the feasibilities of cooperation on embedded X86 chips to help the province promote its IC design, software platform construction and the development and production of low-cost computer chips. In addition, as part of their cooperation on talent training, AMD will invest RMB1 million in Shandong University and Ocean University of China, respectively.
However, the parties have not disclosed which companies in Shandong will be involved in and benefit from the cooperation.
Director of AMD Greater China Public Relations and Government Affairs, Gu Ming, says that the signing of the MOU is the first step for a strategic cooperation between the two sides, and in the future, AMD will consult with concerned enterprises in pushing forward the implementation of more projects.
