Gansu Provincial Weather Bureau Wind & Solar Power Resource Evaluation Center has been formally set up.
As the first of its kind in northwest China, the center will be responsible for surveying, inspecting and evaluating Gansu Province's wind power and solar power resources, conducting climate feasibility studies, technology evaluation and training promotion as well as utilization management and weather consulting service. The center will also be in charge of identifying devices for wind and light testing and reviewing observation results.
Gansu Province has great advantage in wind power and solar power in China. It is estimated that the province owns a total solar power storage of about 720 trillion kilowatts and wind power storage of about 240 million kilowatts.
Zhang Shuyu, a representative from GPWB, says that the establishment of the Wind & Solar Power Resource Evaluation Center is aimed at bringing GPWB's advantages in talent, communications, computer and data and weather resource into full play and help promote the province's utilization of development of wind and solar power.
