According to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, on October 20, 2010, BMW Group began recalling 21,711 luxury sedans in China due to a faulty brake system.
The recall involves 21,383 imported BMW 5, 6, and 7 Series vehicles manufactured between December 14, 2001, and November 23, 2009, along with 388 Rolls-Royce Phantom luxury cars manufactured between January 1, 2003, and November 30, 2009.
The German auto giant's recall is to fix flawed brake servos, which may be contaminated by lubricants inside the vacuum pump. The problem could cause the failure of the brake servo function.
BMW and Rolls-Royce dealerships in China will contact car owners and arrange for repairs to be made free of charge.
